Cornell’s Schwartz Center for Theatre Arts (430 College Ave., 607/254-2787) stages 6–12 plays September–May, along with the Cornell Dance Series and numerous guest performances. Professional regional theater is staged by the acclaimed Hangar Theatre (Rte. 89, Cass Park, 607/273-8588) June–August. The Kitchen Theater (607/272-0403) presents contemporary theater in the historic Clinton House (116 N. Cayuga St.).
Among the groups performing regularly in the city is the Cayuga Chamber Orchestra (116 N. Cayuga St., 607/273-8981), the official orchestra of Ithaca [1]. The Ithaca Ballet (607/277-1967) performs both classical and contemporary works.
Good club listings can be found in the Ithaca Times (607/277-7000), a free alternative news weekly. One of the best music clubs in the area is the Rongovian Embassy to the U.S.A. (Rte. 96, 607/387-3334, www.rongo.com [2]) in nearby Trumansburg [3]. The ABC Cafe (308 Stewart Ave., 607/277-4770) features folk music, a weekly open mike, and jazz on Sunday.
