Inside this large, renovated building you’ll find a fine historical museum (401 E. State St., at Seneca and Green Sts., 607/273-8284, 11 a.m.–5 p.m. Tues., Thurs., and Sat., free admission) run by the DeWitt Historical Society. The society owns an impressive collection of over 20,000 objects, 3,000 books, and 100,000 photographs.
Permanent displays show the city’s beginnings, its industries, and its surprising film history. Temporary exhibits focus on such subjects as folk arts, alternative medicine, Italian immigrants, and Finnish-American saunas.
