South of the ski-jumping complex [1] rises Mount Van Hoevenberg, the site of the Olympic bobsled and luge runs (off Rte. 73, 518/523-4436, www.orda.org [2], 9 a.m.–4 p.m. daily). The bobsled run measures 1,400 meters long with 16 curves. The luge run is 1,000 meters long with 15 curves. Passenger rides on the bobsleds are offered year-round ($40 per person).
Also on Mount Van Hoevenberg, the excellent Cross-Country Center offers a 31-mile system of trails. In winter, the trails are groomed frequently and open to cross-country skiers of all levels. In summer, the trails are used by mountain bikers and horseback riders. Skis and bikes can be rented on-site, and guided horseback rides are available.
