Applewood (501 11th St., near 7th Ave., 718/788-1810, $25) brings sustainably-grown ingredients together in refined dishes that make this a Park Slope [1] hit. Another local favorite, Dram Shop (339 9th St., near 5th Ave., 718/788 1444) is a charming bar with better than average bar food.

On 5th Avenue, you’ll find some of the neighborhood’s best restaurants, including Al Di Lá (248 5th Ave., at Carroll St., 718/783-4565, $17), which specializes in Northern Italian fare.

Long Tan (196 5th Ave., 718/622-8444, $14) is a convivial Thai restaurant, with a long bar to one side, red banquettes to another, and a patio out back. On the menu are such creative dishes as mango and shrimp rolls.
