Behind the uninspiring exterior of Stemmerman’s Inn lies one of the nicest inns in Wilmington [2]. Tucked inside the narrow VonKampen Building, a historic commercial building that was constructed in 1886, the inn underwent a complete renovation but retained the charm of the exposed brick, high ceilings, stained glass, and beams in each of the seven guest rooms.
The rooms ($99–129 d) feel like small apartments and offer modern amenities like kitchenettes, spa-like bathrooms, and wireless Internet. The building has a common deck with great views of the Cape Fear River.
