Being landlocked, Alberta [1] is not renowned for scuba diving. A few interesting opportunities do exist, however, and rentals are available in Lethbridge, Calgary [2], and Edmonton [3]. The old town site of Minnewanka Landing, in Banff National Park [4], has been flooded, and although a relatively deep dive, the site is interesting. Patricia Lake, in Jasper National Park [4], has a sunken barge developed as a prototype for mid-Atlantic plane refueling in World War II. Another sunken boat is found at the bottom of Emerald Bay in Waterton National Park. Nearby are some wagons that fell through ice many winters ago.
