Apart from Highway 3 from the south, the Ingraham Trail (Hwy. 4 East) is the only route out of the city. It then crosses the Yellowknife River and passes Prosperous, Pontoon, and Prelude Lakes, each with day-use areas and great for fishing, boating, and swimming.
Continuing east, the road parallels the Cameron River within Hidden Lake Territorial Park, 48 kilometers (30 miles) from Yellowknife [1]. Trails lead down to the riverbank, and waterfalls dot the park. The road ends at Tibbit Lake, 71 kilometers (44 miles) from Yellowknife.
