The most central source of tourist information is the downtown office of Edmonton Tourism (9990 Jasper Ave., 780/426-4715 or 800/463-4667, www.edmonton.com [1], Mon.–Fri. 7 a.m.–7 p.m.), opposite the Fairmont Hotel Macdonald [2].
If you’re driving up to Edmonton [3] from the south along Highway 2, move over to the left lane as you enter the city in preparation for a stop at Edmonton Tourism’s Gateway Park Visitor Information Centre information center (780/496-8400, Mon.–Fri. 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. and Sat.–Sun. 9 a.m.–5 p.m.). Within this complex, you’ll find interpretive displays on the oil industry, stands filled with brochures, and direct-dial phones for Edmonton accommodations.
On the arrivals level of the Edmonton International Airport is another information center year-round Mon.–Fri. 8 a.m.–midnight, Sat.–Sun. 9 a.m.–midnight).
