The luxurious Willow Stream spa (Fairmont Banff Springs, 403/762-2211, daily 6 a.m.–10 p.m.) is the place to pamper yourself. The epicenter of the facility is a circular mineral pool capped by a high glass-topped ceiling and ringed by floor-to-ceiling windows on one side and on the other by hot tubs fed by cascading waterfalls of varying temperatures.
Other features include outdoor saltwater hot tubs, private solariums, steam rooms, luxurious bathrooms, a café featuring light meals, and separate male and female lounges complete with fireplaces and complimentary drinks and snacks. Numerous other services are offered, including facials, body wraps, massage therapy, salon services, and hydrotherapy.
Entry to Willow Stream is included in some package rates for guests at the hotel. Admission is $80 per day, which includes the use of a locker and spa attire, with almost 100 services available at additional cost (most of these include general admission, so, for example, you can spend the day at Willow Stream and receive a one-hour massage for $185).
The Upper Hot Springs (Mountain Ave., 403/762-1515, 10 a.m.–10 p.m., $7.50) were developed in 1901 as an alternative to those at the Cave and Basin [1], and are still run by Parks Canada. Most folks come for a relaxing soak, but massages are available for an additional charge.
