Oh Canada Eh! (125 Kananaskis Way, off Bow Valley Trail, 403/609-0004 or 800/773-0004) is a musical dinner show that provides a rip-roaring evening of fun and food in a modern building decorated as a cavernous log cabin. It’s unashamedly cheesy, but the parade of costumed Canadian characters—such as lumberjacks, natives, Mounties, and even Anne of Green Gables—will keep you laughing as they sing and dance across the floor.
The food is surprisingly good, with Canadian favorites such as Alberta beef, salmon, and maple chocolate cake served buffet-style. Performances are nightly at 6:30 p.m. through summer, and the all-inclusive cost is adult $64, child 6–16 $31.
The Wood (838 8th St., 403/678-3404) has a beer garden that catches the afternoon sun and is especially busy on weekends. At the other end of the main street is the Drake Inn (909 Railway Ave., 403/678-5131), with a small outdoor patio and a nonsmoking section with comfortable lounges.
Across the road, at the Rose and Crown (749 Railway Ave., 403/678-5168), you’ll find a beer garden. All these bars have midweek drink specials, and the latter two have a couple of pool tables.
