Northeast (Downtown)

Many hotels lie in the northeast section of the city at varying distances from Calgary International Airport. All of those detailed below have airport shuttles, and most can be contacted directly by courtesy phone from the airport.

$100–150

Check hotel websites listed below for rooms around the $100 mark, or take the easy way out and book your stay at the no-frills Pointe Inn (1808 19th St. NE, 403/291-4681 or 800/661-8164, www.pointeinn.com [1], $100–115 s or d). Facilities include a launderette, a restaurant, and a lounge. Request a nonsmoking room.

$150–200

Holiday Inn Calgary Airport (1250 McKinnon Dr. NE, 403/230-1999 or 800/465-4329, www.holidayinn.com [2], $160–190 s or d) is a little farther from the airport than the other choices, but since there’s a free shuttle that is of little consequence. The smallish indoor pool is the perfect place to refresh yourself after a long flight.

Similarly priced is the Radisson Hotel Calgary Airport (2120 16th Ave. NE, 403/291-4666 or 800/395-7046, www.radisson.com [3], $160–260 s or d), which features 185 comfortable rooms, an indoor pool, a fitness center, spa services, and a Western-style saloon. Upgrade to a Business Class room ($180) and enjoy better views, an evening turndown service, and breakfast.

Not right at the airport but of a similarly high standard to the Delta Calgary Airport is the Sheraton Cavalier (2620 32nd Ave. NE, 403/291-0107 or 866/716-8101, www.sheratoncavalier.com [4], $180–265 s or d). This full-service hostelry boasts a variety of dining options, a lounge, a fitness room, an indoor water park, and a business center. The 306 rooms are modern, spacious, and equipped with wireless Internet.

Over $200

Delta Calgary Airport (403/291-2600 or 888/492-8804, www.deltahotels.com [5], $219 s or d) is the only accommodation right at the airport. The medium-sized rooms come with luxuries like down duvets and plush bathrobes, each has a writing desk, and most importantly, they are well sound-proofed. Premier Rooms, which are the same size as regular rooms, come with upgraded furnishings for a few bucks extra. Hotel amenities include two restaurants, a lounge, an indoor pool, and a business center.
