High above the Ainsworth Hot Springs [1], this cave system is made up of several large chambers totaling 800 meters (2,600 feet) in length. The caves also hold an underground creek that drops over Cody Falls.
Experienced spelunkers can explore the caves unguided, but others will want to join a tour with Hiad Venture Corp. (250/505-2592). Based at the caves’ entrance, this company offers tours daily from 9 a.m. July–August. The one-hour option is $15 per person, but the three-hour tour ($50) is more adventurous and passes formations you won’t see on the shorter trip.
To get to the caves, turn off Highway 31 just north of Ainsworth Hot Springs [2], follow a narrow 15-kilometer (9.3-mile) gravel road to a trailhead, then hike 20 minutes.
