Rochester [1] is the regional shopping center for a large chunk of southeast Minnesota, so there is little you can’t find here.
The Apache Mall (507/288-8056, www.apachemall.com [2], 10 a.m.–9 p.m. Mon.–Sat., 11 a.m.–7 p.m. Sun.), at the junction of Highways 52 South and 14 East, with around 80 stores, is the largest outlet, though the smaller Shops at University Square (111 Broadway S., 507/281-1364, 9:30 a.m.–8:30 p.m. Mon.–Fri., 9:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. Sat., noon–5 p.m. Sun.) right in the heart of downtown has a more interesting selection of shops.
Rochester is a good place to shop for antiques. The largest store, with about 20 dealers, is the Old Rooster Antique Mall (106 Broadway N., 507/287-6228, 9 a.m.–7 p.m. Mon.–Fri., 9 a.m.–5:30 p.m. Sat.–Sun.).
The large SE Minnesota Visual Artists (SEMVA) Gallery (16 1st St. SW, 507/281-4920, www.semva.com [3], 10 a.m.–6 p.m. Mon.–Wed. and Sat., 10 a.m.–9 p.m. Thurs.–Fri., noon–4 p.m. Sun.) fronting Peace Plaza has work for sale in just about all possible media.
