The city-run Centennial Park Campground (907/343-6986, www.ci.anchorage.ak.us/parks [1], mid-May–Sept., $25 plus $5 for showers) has 100 spaces for tents and RVs (no hookups). Take Muldoon Road south from the Glenn, take the first left onto Boundary, then the next left onto the highway frontage road for 0.5 miles to the campground.
Other RV campgrounds include Anchorage Ship Creek Landings RV Park (150 N. Ingra St., 907/277-0877 or 888/778-7700, www.alaskarv.com [2], May–Sept., tents $26, RVs $46), Golden Nugget Camper Park (4100 DeBarr Rd., 907/333-5311 or 800/449-2012, www.goldennuggetcamperpark.com [3], year-round, RVs $45), and Creekwood Inn (2150 Gambell St., 907/258-6006 or 800/478-6008, www.creekwoodinn-alaska.com [4], year-round, RVs $41, no tents). Many travelers also park RVs for free in the Fred Meyer and Sam’s Club parking lots, but check with store managers for any restrictions.
