Lisianski Inlet Lodge (805/451-3153 or 800/962-8441, www.pelicanalaskafishing.com [1], May–mid-Sept.), two miles west of Pelican [2], offers a pricey but idyllic setting for a splurge. Package trips are $3,000 per person for five nights, including lodging, meals, fishing, and guide service.
Overlooking the harbor, Chicobi Charters (907/735-2233, www.chicobicharters.net [3]) has a four-bedroom unit with a full kitchen and a living room. It sleeps up to six for $220, or $150 for two people.
Alaska Seaplane Service (907/735-2244 or 800/478-3360, www.flyalaskaseaplanes.com [4]) rents out a one-bedroom boardwalk apartment called the Paddlehouse for $125 d plus $25 per additional guest.
Infamous Rosie’s Bar and Grill (907/735-2288, www.rosesbarandgrill.com [5]) is a good place for drinking and pub grub, including burgers, chicken dinners, oysters, and BLTs. The ceiling is plastered with signed dollar bills, but you may get a surprise when you put yours up. If you haven’t heard stories about Rosie’s, you haven’t been to Pelican [2]. It’s the sort of place where they sometimes black the windows out on the 4th of July—and for good reason.
Lisianski Inlet Café (907/735-2282, Mon.–Sat. 7 a.m.–3 p.m. Apr.–Sept., $7–12) is open for tasty breakfasts and lunches in the summer, with big omelets, sandwiches, and a killer borscht. The bar is a hopping place.
