The Gunnar Birkerts–designed Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art opened in 1994 and has since evolved into one of the region’s most comprehensive collections of contemporary art.
At the heart of the Kemper’s permanent exhibits is the Bebe and Crosby Kemper Collection, donated by the museum’s financier and namesake. Jackson Pollock, Robert Rauschenberg, and Georgia O’Keeffe, among others, are represented in this landmark collection.
Throughout the year, the Kemper welcomes a revolving display of temporary exhibits highlighting significant trends in and contributions to contemporary art.
If you’re inspired to start your own collection, don’t leave the museum without a visit to the gift shop. Handcrafted jewelry, textiles, pottery, and home accessories make eye-catching souvenirs and memorable conversation pieces.
