Medford  has no shortage of motel rooms, with some 30 hotels and motels clustered near the interstate exits. Most are national chains, so there’s no mystery as to what you’re checking into.
Two budget choices, both with outdoor pools, include Cedar Lodge (518 N. Riverside Ave., 541/773-7361 or 800/282-3419, $50 and up) and, south of town, Super 8 Pear Tree Motel (300 Pear Tree Lane, 541/535-4445 or 800/645-7332, www.peartreemotel.com , $65 and up).
A number of new upscale hotels have been built in recent years a bit out of town but convenient to I-5; each of the following has a pool. Near the airport is Candlewood Suites (3548 Heathrow Way, 541/772-2800 or 888/299-2208, $98 and up) with large guest rooms, all with kitchenettes.
Another pleasant, recently built hotel is TownePlace Suites (1395 Center Dr., 541/842-5757 or 800/257-3000, $100 and up). On the south side of Medford  is Comfort Inn South (60 E. Stewart Ave., 541/772-8000 or 877/424-6423, $100 and up). SpringHill Suites (1389 Center Dr., 541/842-8080 or 866/538-0187, $109 and up) has some of the largest guest rooms in Medford.
The closest hotel to downtown is the Red Lion Hotel (200 N. Riverside Ave., 541/779-5811 or 800/833-5466, www.redlion.com , $101 and up), a full-service establishment that offers high-speed wireless Internet access, room service, laundry and valet service, plus two outdoor pools, a health club, and three dining options. Rogue Regency Inn (2345 Rte. 62, 541/770-1234 or 800/535-5805, www.rogueregency.com , $108 and up) offers an indoor pool and spa, a fitness center, a business center, a complimentary shuttle to the airport, and high-speed Internet access.
A romantic bed-and-breakfast with a parklike ambience is Under the Greenwood Tree (3045 Bellinger Lane, 541/776-0000 or 800/766-8099, www.greenwoodtree.com , $140 and up). The guest rooms and suites have private baths and are decorated with antiques, oriental carpets, and beautiful quilts. The house sits on 10 acres of grounds and gardens and features a hammock suspended between enormous 300-year-old oaks, as well as a gazebo beneath shady apple trees overlooking a rose garden.
