Seaside [1] is a shopping hub not only for its own population but also for Cannon Beach [2], which oddly doesn’t even have a grocery store, let alone a shopping mall. A number of shopping centers line U.S. 101 as it passes through Seaside, and the Seaside Factory Outlet Center (1111 N. Roosevelt Dr., 503/717-1603) has 25 discount stores, including outlets for Eddie Bauer and Nike.

Stock up for a splendid picnic at Lola’s Market (841 Broadway, 503/738-9799), a gourmet food store with good deli meats, cheeses, sandwiches, and wine.
