The best coffee, good food (as local and organic as possible), and abundant local charm are at the funky-artsy
Trailhead Coffeehouse (47406 Rte. 58, 541/782-2223, 8 a.m.–2 p.m. Tues., 8 a.m.–9 p.m. Wed.–Sun., $8–20), across from the Best Western. Friday and Saturday evenings bring live music, generally an open jam session. It’s a great stop for homemade baked goods, sandwiches, wraps, burgers, soups, and salads—call ahead if you want to order a steak.
The other place that’s good to know about in Oakridge [1] is the Brewers Union Local 180 (48329 E. 1st St., 541/782-2024, noon–9 p.m. Sun.–Wed., noon–10 p.m. Thurs., noon–9 p.m. Fri.–Sat. summer, noon–9 p.m. Sun., 4–10 p.m. Mon.–Wed., noon–10 p.m. Thurs., noon–11 p.m. Fri.–Sat. winter, $5–11), a British-style public house where it’s as easy to settle in with a cup of tea as with a pint of real ale, and you can either read a book or play pool. You can choose between tempeh, spam, and beef for your burger.
