If you’re looking for campsites in the covered-bridge country above Cottage Grove [1], try Baker Bay (35635 Shoreview Dr., Dorena, 541/682-2000, $16). Located about 18 miles from Eugene, Baker Bay offers sailboats and motorboats for rent. Take I-5 South to Mosby Creek Road (take the Cottage Grove Exit), turn left, then left again on Row River Road, and then take the right fork.
If you just need a parking lot–style RV campground with a few tent sites, Eugene Kamping World RV Park (90932 S. Stuart Way, Coburg, 541/343-4832) is just north of Eugene [2] near the quaint town of Coburg. Take the Coburg Exit off I-5, head west, and you’ll find the RV park 1 mile or so down the road.
Between the coast and the Oregon Country Fair grounds, Triangle Lake Park (541/927-6189) has 18 sites for $10 per night. Proceed 25 miles northwest from the fairgrounds on Route 126. Take a right onto Territorial Highway, then a left on Route 36 to Triangle Lake. You’ll find the campsites just after the lake.
Fern Ridge Shores (29652 Jeans Rd., Veneta, 541/935-2335, $25) is a quiet family campground 12 miles west of Eugene convenient to the Oregon Country Fair.
RVers, Oregon Country Fair–goers, rock concert attendees, and Scandinavian Fair visitors stay at Richardson County Park (25950 Richardson Park Rd., Junction City, 541/935-2005, mid-Apr.–mid-Oct., $20) on the shores of Fern Ridge Reservoir 6 miles northwest of Eugene. The 88 sites with hookups and water can be accessed by taking Clear Lake Road off Route 99 to its intersection with Territorial Road.
