The third weekend in April, the Hood River Blossom Festival (Hood River Chamber of Commerce, 541/386-2000 or 800/366-3530, www.hoodriver.org [1]) celebrates breathtaking views of the valley’s orchards in bloom. Arts and crafts, dinners, and the seasonal opening of the Mount Hood Railroad [2] are some of the highlights.
The fall counterpart to the spring Blossom Festival is the Hood River Valley Harvest Fest (541/386-2000 or 800/366-3530). On the second or third weekend in October, the valley welcomes visitors for two days of entertainment, crafts, fresh locally grown produce, and colorful foliage. The apples and pears are ripe, and admission is free.
