Sushi is very popular in Portland [1], and downtown you’ll find decent sushi at a number of places. However, Masu (406 SW 13th Ave., 503/221-6278, www.masusushi.com [2], 4:30 p.m.–midnight Mon.–Thurs., 4:30 p.m.–1 a.m. Fri., 5 p.m.–1 a.m. Sat., 5 p.m.–midnight Sun., rolls $10–18) is our favorite. Between downtown and the Pearl District [3], Masu is a spacious light-filled second-story dining room that combines an excellent sushi bar with a Japanese fusion cuisine hot spot.
