Situated in the heart of Animal Kingdom [1] is Discovery Island, which is home to the 14-story Tree of Life, an enormous replication of a baobab tree, carved in such a way that images of nearly 400 animals comprise the “bark.” The Tree of Life can be seen from throughout the park, but only by getting up close on Discovery Island can you see the intricate work that went into it.
The big attraction in this area of the park is located in the base of the Tree of Life. It’s Tough to Be a Bug is a 3-D movie experience based on A Bug’s Life, giving audience members a bug’s-eye view of various insects. The 3-D effects are accentuated by seats that rumble and squirt water at unsuspecting viewers.
There are a few startles and scares in this experience, so although it’s directly targeted at younger crowds, the youngest in your crew may need a few reminders about the difference between movies and reality.
