To get a real feel for Naples [1], the best place to start is the historic downtown area. Along Fifth Avenue, Third Street South, and in the Bayfront area there are numerous shops, galleries, and cafés that evoke a sense of tropical luxury that’s unique in Florida [2]. It’s decidedly upscale, reflecting the sensibilities of the annual migration of moneyed snowbirds who flock to the area from the frigid Midwest every winter.
There are no actual attractions in this area, but window-shoppers and art lovers will find plenty to capture their interest in the boutiques and galleries housed in dozens of century-old buildings, and the tree-lined sidewalks are eminently strollable.
