Usually, a restaurant this good would come with an impossibly chic decor and long waiting list. Fortunately, that hasn’t happened yet at
Fournos Restaurant (3000 W. Hwy. 89A, 928/282-3331, 6–8 p.m. Tues. and Thurs.–Sat., closed Sun. and Tues.–Wed., $16–21). The delightfully relaxed Mediterranean-influenced restaurant features some of the best food in Sedona [1], with a menu that is bold and focused. There will, no doubt, be some hard-to-resist special, but be sure to start your meal with the rich lobster bisque with black trumpet mushrooms. After that, the rest of the meal—whether you go with the lamb or fresh fish—will play out beautifully.
