Started in 1958 as a place for local artists to teach and share ideas, the Sedona Arts Center (15 Art Barn Rd., 928/282-3809, www.sedonaartscenter.com [1], 10 a.m.–5 p.m. daily) has evolved to into one of the region’s leading cultural forces, helping transform Sedona [2] into an art mecca. Visitors can survey galleries that feature local and regional artists, with rotating exhibitions that include fine art, jewelry, sculpture, textiles, and photography.
The center’s Nassan Gobran School of the Arts offers more than a hundred art classes every year, for a host of media and skill levels. Its three- to five-day intensive art workshops and field expeditions are handy for artistically minded travelers in town for a short period of time.
