Playa Quemaito, popular with Dominican families, lives up to its name in that it is a hot little beach. Quemar means “to burn” and the beach gets its name from the warmth of its waters and rocky beach. The water here is shallower than at nearby San Rafael [1] beach.
There are frituras (food vendors selling fried food) where you can get typical beach food, mostly fish and other yaniqueques (fried bread) or even fried sweet potatoes for very cheap.
