520/623-6151
COST: $150–250 per night
The beautiful El Presidio Inn Bed and Breakfast in the Julius Kruttschnitt House, built in 1886 and remodeled over the years in various architectural styles, is one of Tucson [1]’s best small inns. It’s located in “Snob Hollow” in the historic El Presidio neighborhood, on the same block where Tucson’s wealthy pioneers used to live in their big mansions.
The inn has one of the finest garden courtyards I’ve ever seen; it’s so cool and lush that you may not get out of the inn to see the rest of Tucson.
The inn has four rooms ($120, $130, and $150), two of which—the Carriage House and the Gate House—open onto the courtyard and have kitchenettes. The two small rooms inside the house have private baths. They only allow kids over 13 years old, and they don’t allow pets or smoking. A two-nights minimum stay is required October–May.
