Golder Ranch area
Start at parking lot on Golder Ranch Rd.
Some of the best desertland single tracks in Southern Arizona can be found about 25 miles north of Tucson [1] in Golder Ranch area. A series of rocky, undulating trails through desert, the 50-Year Trail is great fun for experts and beginners alike.
You’ll need your state-trust land permit for this ride (although I’ve never seen anybody out there checking permits or anything). To purchase one ($15 for a year) go to www.land.state.az.us [2].
Take Oracle Road north through Oro Valley and turn right on Golder Ranch Road; follow it until you get to a dirt parking lot and a cattle guard. The trail is just beyond the cattle guard.
