Catalina Hwy.
A favorite route for road bikers is the long, hard climb up the Catalina Highway, also called the Brad P. Gorman Memorial Bikeway, into the cool heights of the Santa Catalina Mountains [1]. The route is about 38 miles from midtown to the village of Summerhaven, and most of it is uphill.
Take Tanque Verde Road to the Catalina Highway, and pedal as hard as you can. Make sure to watch the cars along the road carefully; some of the day-trippers to the mountains will be too busy checking out the views to notice you on your bike.
