The creative class is well represented in Tucson [1]. Indeed, there are probably more artists and artisans living in or near the Old Pueblo [1] than in any other Arizona locale save the Navajo and Hopi Reservations. Many of the top galleries in Tucson [1] also have sister galleries in Santa Fe, New Mexico, or in Sedona in Northern Arizona. You don’t have to appreciate the sometimes overly romantic depictions of the famed Old West to enjoy looking at art in Tucson [1]. There are all kinds of galleries, especially in the downtown area, that show art from a more experimental, contemporary Southwest, and there are few cowboys left these days. But if you do love Western and Southwestern art, from the conservative to the experimental, there are few better places to be. Head to the foothills neighborhood around Campbell and Skyline for galleries showing the best of the genre.
