Museo de Nuestra Raíz Africana (Calle San Sebastían beside Plaza de San José, Old San Juan, 787/724-4294 or 787/724-4184, Tues.–Sat. 8:30 a.m.–4:20 p.m.) explores the African influence on Puerto Rican culture. Slavery and abolition figure prominently, including a display of handcuffs and collars and a simulated re-creation of what it was like to cross the ocean in a slave ship.
