The Hotel Marquez (tel. 504/671-2805, US$22 s, US$29 d) on the main street is the about the nicest place in Yoro [1], although that’s not saying much. Rooms have air-conditioning, cable TV, and hot water. The restaurant (also about the best in town) is open 7 a.m.–10 p.m. daily.
Less expensive but a decent value is Hotel Palace (tel. 504/671-2229, US$13 s, US$26 d), just down from the Hotel Marquez, which offers clean rooms with private baths, cable TV, and fans.
Another low-price option is the three-story Hotel Nelson (tel. 504/671-2269, US$9.50 s, US$10.50 d), in front of the municipal market. The view from the top floor of the Nelson, out across the surrounding valley and mountains, is very fine.
A great spot to sit in the open air under a champa and have a nice lunch or dinner and a cerveza or jugo natural is Rancho Típico, two blocks from the park. The rotisserie chicken is the specialty (US$3 for the dinner with sides), and hamburgers, steak, and fish are also available.
The best cheap food in Yoro [1] is the baleadas (US$0.60) at El Triunfador Restaurante, three blocks from the park. Expreso del Rancho on the park serves a variety of coffees and pastries. La Tortuga Veloz on the park will change dollars and serves hamburgers and licuados.
