Though most sun- and sand-seekers proceed directly from the docks and airport to West End [1], Sandy Bay [2], or elsewhere, there are a handful of hotels in Coxen Hole [3] should you need to spend the night there for some reason.
The Hotel Cay View (tel. 504/445-1202, US$31 s, US$38 d), on the eastern side of town on Main Street, has some quite decent rooms that have recently been remodeled, a couple of which even have water views, with air-conditioning, TV, and hot water. The older rooms are pretty dingy.
If the Cay View is full, an alternative is the Hotel Bella Vista (tel. 504/445-3611, US$35 d).
While there aren’t any standout restaurants in Coxen Hole proper, there are plenty of places to try Honduran staples such as baleadas, fluffy flour tortillas stuffed with refried beans and a dash of sour cream, and roast chicken; just walk along Coxen Hole’s main drag and pop into one that appeals to you.
