Nothing more than a highway junction with a town built around it, La Entrada is worth stopping at only to transfer buses, or to visit the nearby ruins of El Puente [1], the second-most-developed Mayan site in Honduras after Copán [2].
Should it be necessary to spend the night in La Entrada, the three-story Hotel San Carlos (tel. 504/661-2377, US$26 s, US$37 d), right at the highway junction, has the best rooms and restaurant in town, with air-conditioning and a swimming pool.
While waiting for a bus to Copán (72 kilometers), Santa Rosa de Copán [3] (44 kilometers), or San Pedro Sula [4] (126 kilometers), fill up on baleadas and other cheap eats at El Triangulo store and lunch counter, next to the Texaco gas station. Buses to all these destinations frequently pass by, the last usually around 5 or 6 p.m.
