The Belgian-run Via Via Café (tel. 504/651-4652, US$12 s, US$16 d) has plain rooms at the back of the restaurant, perfect for crashing after an evening at the restaurant and bar.
Another economic option is the Hotel Calle Real (tel. 504/651-4230, US$14 s, US$20 d), two and a half blocks up a steep hill from the parque. The colonial-style hotel has a leafy sitting area and can fill up with groups, so it’s best to call ahead.
Next door to En La Manzana Verde [1] is Posada Macanudo (tel. 504/651-4771, US$17 s, US$20 d with fan, US$8–10 more for a/c), a well-located hotel with simple, clean rooms.
A block away, La Posada de Belssy (tel. 504/651-4680, US$13–16 s, US$20–25 d) has similar rooms, as well as a rather dilapidated rooftop terrace with wading pool.
Another inexpensive and clean accommodation in town is Hotel Patty (tel. 504/651-4021, US$15 s, US$18 d), near the highway bridge leaving town toward the ruins, with sparse rooms with fan and private bath.
