Forty percent of Mexico’s animal species can be found in Chiapas [1], three quarters of those in the Montes Azules biosphere reserve alone. Many animals are endemic to Chiapas, or even their immediate surroundings; spotting them can be difficult, though with patience and a skilled guide, not impossible.
