Housed in a beautifully renovated colonial home, the Elisa Burkhard Contemporary Art Museum-Gallery (Calle Yajalón 2, no phone, www.museoelisa.wordpress.com [1], 3–6 p.m. Tues.–Sun., free) is a welcome addition to San Cristóbal [2]’s nascent modern-art scene. Three large exhibition rooms feature photography, sculptures, and paintings, most by local and expatriate artists.
The gallery also has open-air sculpture and garden areas, a small café, workshop, and a projection room in the works.
