You can discover Cachoeira [1]’s treasures in a half-day of pleasant wandering around, which can also include a boat trip along the Rio Paraguaçu. Near the central bus stop is the Praça Doutor Aristides Milton, with its baroque fountain and the stately 18th-century Santa Casa de Misericórdia (the city’s oldest hospital) flanked by a lovely small garden.
