Florianópolis [1] is a seafood lover’s paradise. The island is the biggest producer of oysters in the world, which are served fresh and deliciously raw (accompanied by lime wedges) at many beachside eateries and in the rustic little restaurants in the Azorean fishing villages on the west coast. Also popular are shrimp—both pink and white—which are prepared in many different fashions along with a local fish, tainha, whose tender meat melts in your mouth.
