From Nova [node:80618 link Brasília [1] and Encantadas], boats can be hired to take you to various beaches as well as to the nearby islands of Ilha das Palmas, Ilha das Peças and Ilha do Superagüi. The latter two compose the Parque Nacional do Superagüi. This protected region of mangrove swamps is home to a rich diversity of flora and fauna, including chauás (red-faced parrots), and mico-leões-de-cara-preta (black-faced lion monkeys). While jaguars are a rare sight, wild orchids are rampant. Ilha do Superagüi also boasts the aptly named 37-kilometer (23-mile) Praia Deserta.
