The granddaddy of them all is Columbia State Farmers Market (1001 Bluff Rd., 803/737-4664, Mon.–Sat. 6 a.m.–9 p.m., Sun. 1–6 p.m.), in operation at this same 50-acre site, with a 100,000 square-foot drive-through building. This state-operated facility, one of three such in South Carolina [1], has 500 stalls, 100 wholesale outlets, about 40 retail outlets, and even its own U.S. Post Office location.
Downtown, the Trinity Episcopal Church Farmers Market (1100 Sumter St., 803/771-7300, Sun. 8:30 a.m.–noon) sells local produce each Sunday in the warm seasons.
In the Vista you’ll find the All-Local Farmers Market (www.stateplate.org [2], 8 a.m.–noon), held every second Saturday of the month on the patio of the popular local restaurant, Gervais & Vine (620A Gervais St.) and every fourth Saturday at Rosewood Market (2803 Rosewood Dr.).
