The website of Bermuda’s Department of Tourism and Transport, www.bermudatourism.com [1], offers a well-researched rundown on immigration rules, wedding resources, daily activities, seasonal events, islandwide accommodations, and group and incentive tours, along with a mechanism to book trips online, including air and hotel packages.

The department is based in the City of Hamilton [2] (Global House, 43 Church St., Hamilton, tel. 441/292-0023). Once on the island, a first stop should be to any of the Visitors Information Centres (VIC), which provide free maps and brochures and help organize day trips, tours, shows, and other activities. There are three VIC outlets in Dockyard [3], in both the King’s Wharf and new Heritage Wharf cruise terminals, and in a gazebo near the ferry dock. In St. George’s, the VIC is at Caffe Latte (8 York St., tel. 441/297-8000, emichael [at] logic [dot] bm, 8:30 a.m.–6 p.m. daily high season), an Internet café just off the town square. Hamilton’s VIC is located alongside the Ferry Terminal building on Front Street, next to Albuoy’s Point [4]. At press time, the new center’s hours were not set, but like the outlets in St. George’s and Dockyard [3], it would likely be open daily during regular work hours (9 a.m.–5 p.m. Mon.–Sat.) and offer advice, information and brochures on the island’s tours, activities, attractions and events, as well as bus and ferry tickets, tokens and passes. The pocket-sized Handy Reference Map, an easy-to-read, east-to-west depiction of sights and attractions produced by the Tourism Department, can be picked up here, or at information booths at cruise terminals, the Clocktower Mall [5] in Dockyard [3] and other points, along with bus and ferry schedules, and brochures on restaurants, shopping, water sports, nature reserves, and the Railway Trail. Bus and ferry schedules, tokens, and passes can be purchased at the Ferry Terminal or Central Bus Terminal, both in Hamilton.
