Just east of Spittal Pond [1], looking out over one of Bermuda’s [2] most dramatically spectacular stretches of coastline visible from the main road, tiny Watch Hill Park (open sunrise to sunset daily, admission free) offers a peaceful stopping place for a picnic or rest while heading east. Anglers come here after work and on weekends, casting their lines for pompano and “good-eating” reef fish like snapper, rockfish, triggerfish, and hogfish.
Watch Hill Park is located on a peaceful stretch of South Shore Road, where traffic is generally very light. The main road east from here is the quintessential “scenic route,” leading far from rush-hour destinations—to leisurely Tucker’s Town and its private golf courses.
