Somerset [1] residents can’t stay away from the
Salt Rock Grill (27 Mangrove Bay Rd., tel. 441/234-4502, bar 441/234-4503, fax 441/234-4504, saltrockgrill [at] transact [dot] bm, lunch noon–3 p.m., light snacks 3–5 p.m., dinner 5:30–10 p.m. daily), where wide-open views of Mangrove Bay—and outstanding sushi—are the big crowd-pleasers. Indeed, even if they don’t live nearby, boaters like to zoom across the Great Sound for summertime family brunches at this renovated establishment (formerly the historic Loyalty Inn).
A full sushi and tempura bar serves appetizers like fried yellowtail and spicy tuna salad ($6–9), nigiri and sashimi, and six-piece maki mono rolls ($5.95–14.50). A make-your-own pasta corner is also popular. Pub fare includes chicken curry, beef pie, and the popular West End fish sandwich. Lamb, filet mignon, salads, pork ribs, and grilled Bermuda tuna are also well executed.
