Dub City Records (23 Somerset Rd., tel. 441/234-3737, 10 a.m.–10 p.m.) opened a West End outlet in Somerset [1] in 2006, offering the same good selection of reggae, soul, R&B, and urban hit music as its popular Court Street store.
Knowledgeable, friendly staff make shopping a delight at Somerset Pharmacy (49 Mangrove Bay Rd., tel. 441/234-2484, 8 a.m.–6 p.m. Mon.–Fri., 8 a.m.–5 p.m. Sat., noon–2 p.m. Sun.), which, aside from its dispensary and regular drugstore items, sells tourist items such as postcards, towels, and souvenirs. But its best items are the well-chosen toys, loads of them, for girls and boys of all ages, rivaling Hamilton stores of quadruple the size. Major-brand dolls, action figures, arts and crafts, balls, board games, baby toys—it’s a child’s heaven.
Genuine Bermuda linen-blend shorts (pink, yellow, red, $49) can be found at the Somerset [1] branch store of English Sports Shop (Somerset Rd., tel. 441/234-0770, 9:30 a.m.–5 p.m.), along with linen and wool blazers ($199–225), Bermuda silk ties (sporting longtails, horse and carriage, and Hamilton’s pastel skyline), and conservative women’s fashions.
