Scooters, both double-seaters and single-seaters, and lower-power mopeds can be rented from outlets at major hotels, as well as from liveries in Pembroke, Paget, Southampton, Flatts, Sandys, and St. George’s. It’s an easy way to beach-hop independently, if you are a confident, safe biker.
Bicycles up the adventure quotient for travelers who want to get some exercise with their sightseeing. Bermuda’s hilly terrain and the ever-popular Railway Trail have attracted increasing numbers of cyclists, including off-road mountain bikers. Bikes can be rented from some hotels and liveries, including Eve’s Cycle Livery (114 Middle Rd., tel. 441/236-6247, 8:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m., $30 per day), but unless you are Ironman-fit, you might want to opt for motorized transport in the torpid heat of midsummer.
