A boat gives you the freedom to travel easily and quickly from one island to another, and a motorboat means you can do it quickly. Renting a boat is a good way for experienced boaters to chart their own course for a day or more. It’s not cheap, though; powerboats go for $200 and up for a day’s rental, excluding fuel. Expect to pay twice that, at least, if you need a skipper.
In the Road Town [1] area, Sunshine Pleasure Boats (Village Cay Marina, 284/494-8813) rents boats in a variety of sizes for $250–450.
At Nanny Cay, Island Time (Nanny Cay Marina, 284/495-9993, www.islandtimeltd.com [2]) rents 22-foot Contenders and rigid hull inflatables for long- and short-term rentals. Rates are $150 and up. Virgin Traders (Nanny Cay Marina, 284/495-2526, www.virgintraders.com [3]) rents 40- to 60-foot luxury motor yachts.
