A humble place, Apple Bay, also called Cappoon’s Bay, may not rate among the top beaches in the British Virgin Islands, but it is not without charm. Surfers flock here during the winter months when the surf is up. The best waves come in right in front of Bomba’s Surfside Shack. Grab a seat along the shore in the afternoon to watch the surfers surf and the pelicans dive for food.
For swimming, head west to the sand in front of Sebastian’s on the Beach, a hotel and restaurant. Depending on the season, you will find a lot or a little sand. The water can be pleasantly wavy or dead calm.
A few hundred yards east of Apple Bay is a small beach associated with the Sugar Mill Hotel. Protected by a manmade rock promontory, the sand beach hits the spot when you’re in the mood for a quick dip.
