M&M Donkey Diner (East End Rd., 340/693-5240, 8 a.m.–noon Wed.–Sat., 8 a.m.–1 p.m. Sun., 4–8 p.m. Fri.) is the place to come for breakfast. Islanders swear by the café’s pancakes, eggs, and French toast. M&M also does pizza on Wednesday and Friday nights and a Caribbean barbecue on Saturdays.
Calling itself “a pretty OK place,”
Skinny Legs (Emmaus, 340/779-4982, 11 a.m.–9 p.m. daily, $8–15) embodies the spirit of Coral Bay [1] when it was just a remote and unpretentious community of free spirits, salty dogs, and welcoming locals. Come here to fill your belly and bask in the fun-loving and laid-back atmosphere of the island’s eastern end. The open-air dining room looks out over Coral Bay and the many boats and dinghies that congregate there. As for the food, Skinny Legs is the place for burgers, sandwiches, and cold beer. And don’t be impatient; the motto “same day service” says it all.
